BAFTA winner My Child Lebensborn banned by Google

BAFTA winner My Child Lebensborn banned by Google

Since early April, the BAFTA award-winning game My Child Lebensborn from Norwegian Sarepta Studio has been banned by Google Play in Germany, Russia, Austria and France.

According to the original report from Gamer.no (in Norwegian), Google Norway press officer Helle Skjervold confirmed that the game was removed due to sensitive content. “Our policies relate to local laws in the many countries we operate in,” said Skjervold. “This game does not violate our sensitive content policies in most countries, but it does so in a few markets.”

My Child Lebensborn portrays the tough day-to-day life of the children of German soldiers and local women in Norway after World War II:

Sarepta Studio currently has no further details from Google. “We’re working to get more information from Google and have only been told we’ve been removed due to controversial content,” says Sarepta Studio creative producer Elin Festøy. “We understand from others that it may be difficult to know more and that Google Play reserves the right to remove without explanation. But we try to get more information through contacts, so the case is not finally clarified as we see it.”

Earlier this month, My Child Lebensborn received the Game Beyond Entertainment Award from BAFTA:
