The Norwegian games industry celebrated the year’s best games at Kavalkaden last week, and hosted the Nordic Game Discovery Contest’s second fifth season qualifier.
Spillprisen, the annual Norwegian awards show and highlight of Kavalkaden, was presented online with Nordic Game favorite Jon Cato Lorentzen (former Krillbite CEO) as co-host. The NGDC qualifier kicked-off the festivities, with the three promising game projects selected for the contest in Norway engaging in a fierce online battle.
The all-Norwegian line-up included the adventure game Dude, Where is My Beer? from
Arik Zurabian and Edo Brenes, the VR puzzler KARTOFFL by Breach VR and the arena shooter Setback from Setback.
All three teams did a great job pitching in front of judges from Xsolla, Microsoft and WhisperGames, breaking even in voting after the first three rounds.
But in a brilliant “last chance” round from Arik Zurabian and Edo Brenes, Dude, Where is My Beer? grabbed the victory and will represent Norway in the NGDC Grand Finals at fall edition of NG21 this November in Malmö, Sweden.

The selected game will earn a seat in the NGDC Grand Finals at the November edition of NG21 in Malmö, Sweden, as well as prizes from Xsolla, Microsoft, WhisperGames and PR specialists Games Branding.
