Danish Designers Headline NG26 Spring: First speakers announced!
Nordic Game has kicked off its speaker announcements for NG26 Spring, set for 26–29 May in Malmö, with a session from Danish studio Funday Games’ designers Rasmus Heeger and Søren Lauge Boll. The duo will take the main stage to unpack their acclaimed adaptation of the Deep Rock Galactic universe into the survivor-like genre via Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, a top-down auto-shooter hailed as a standout in the “bullet heaven” subgenre.
Funday Games, an independent Aarhus-based studio founded in 2011 as Funday Factory by Anders Leicht Rohde, has built a reputation for player-centric titles that foster communities. The team has produced over 60 games, including mobile hits like Spellbinders co-developed with Kiloo) and Subway Surfers: Tag (with SYBO). Their shift to PC and indie successes includes the survival-crafting Wild Indigo Ranch and the roguelike autoshooter Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, published by Ghost Ship Publishing. The studio is working on four new unannounced titles, all aimed for a Steam first release.
Spotlight on Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor’s Bullet Heaven Triumph
The game, which sold 1 million copies in its first month, stays true to the original’s dwarven mining roots while embracing Vampire Survivors-style mechanics: solo missions on Hoxxes IV, auto-firing against alien hordes, resource mining, and upgrade unlocks.
Søren Lauge Boll is Game Director on Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor and Rasmus Heeger is Lead Designer. In their NG26 talk, they’ll explore blending reverse bullet hell intensity with Deep Rock Galactic’s lore, ensuring the adaptation honors the franchise’s spirit.
