Candle Knight wins NGDC in Brazil

The Nordic Game Discovery Contest (NGDC) was part of the recent BIG Festival in Brazil, organised as a hybrid show and broadcast online from Sao Paolo.

Scheduled as a session on the final day of the event, the fifth qualifier of the current NGDC season was hosted by Nordic Game’s Jacob Riis with industry experts Kathleen Evers (The Game Maker Fund), Jason Della Rocca (funding advisor and cluster expert) and Martin Cao (CEO, Nimble Giant) as judges.

A host of very promising games had been submitted to pitch at the qualifier, but only three games were selected by the NGDC review board to battle live for a seat at the NGDC Season VI Grand Finals this November:

Star Drifters (Poland) with their game Lumencraft
9heads Game Studios (Brazil) with their game No Captain Allowed
Dracma Studios (Mexico) with their game Candle Knight

After four intense rounds it was Dracma Studios’ Candle Knight that did best overall and was declared the winner of the qualifier. It will be exciting to follow the game as it enters the NGDC finals – a big congrats to Dracma Studios, and many thanks to the contestants, judges and a great production team at BIG Festival for creating a very enjoyable show.

NGDC Season VI is sponsored by Xsolla, Tencent Games, GTR, Nordic Game Ventures and ifairs, in partnership with Games Branding and 80 Level.
