Nordic Game welcomes Josef Fares & Oskar Wolontis
From their debut in 2013, Hazelight Studios have been a shining star in the Swedish games industry firmament; now two of their renown developers join Nordic Game in May: Studio founder Josef Fares and COO Oskar Wolontis.
A few facts: Yes, It Takes Two, and no, they’re not “brothers”. And we’re so thrilled that they’ll be finding their “way out” to Malmö next May 😊
While the duo has yet to reveal the details of their upcoming talk, it’s likely that they’ll share their views on multiplayer, couch co-op and how to create brilliant games incorporating both.
Regardless, here are a few more facts about Josef and Oskar:
Josef Fares
Josef is founder and creative director of Hazelight Studios. He burst on the cultural scene in 2000 with his cinematic debut Jalla! Jalla! and success three years later with his action/comedy Kopps.
Josef continued in film until 2010, when an interest in games took over. His game development career took off in 2013 as writer and creative director on Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, followed by the critically-acclaimed A Way Out in 2018 and award-winning It Takes Two in 2021. He has won many prizes for his work in both cinema and games.
Oskar Wolontis
Oskar started his games industry career as a Swedish journalist in the early 2000s, writing online and in print for publications like PlayStation World and PC Gaming World.
Following nearly a decade in the Swedish Armed Forces, Oskar decided to rejoin the games industry in 2014 at then recently founded Hazelight Studios. Over ten years, Oskar went from production coordinator to COO, overseeing operations at Hazelight through development of the critically-acclaimed A Way Out and Game of the Year winning It Takes Two.
Josef Fares & Oskar Wolontis now join industry legend Peter Molyneux as announced speakers at Nordic Game in 2025, with many more reveals in store in the coming weeks.
