Nordic Game Community Spotlight: Foghorns Drown
As we ramp up for this year’s conference in Malmö, it’s time to zoom in on the strong Nordic Game community.
On the Nordic Game Discord server there’s already great activity, and our Discord Lead Emmi Hattunen is putting together a string of exciting events for members, running all the way through NG26 on 26–29 May.
One of these is the NG Community Spotlight, where we highlight an upcoming and exciting game made by community members. So without further ado, please take a good look at Foghorns Drown, developed by Studio Laaya and set for release in 2026.

Foghorns Drown is a psychological thriller where you play as a ferryman, bringing passengers across a foggy lake to a town drenched in mystery and folklore.
We asked the team: “What inspired you as a team to make this kind of game?”
Answer: “We really wanted to make a murder mystery set in a small, isolated town (initially it was also going to be a fishing game, but we dropped that idea very early). Some of our biggest inspirations were Twin Peaks, Silent Hill, and Mouthwashing, as well as the smaller indie game That Which Gave Chase.”
Sounds good, right? You can find more info about the game here:

Nordic Game would not be gathering the games industry in Malmö each spring without the enthusiastic participation of thousands of talented game developers from the Nordic region and across the globe for over two decades. Thank you!
We’re also tremendously grateful for the unwavering support of our exhibitors, sponsors and partners. Many of them have already signed-up for our upcoming show, but we’re always ready to welcome new partnerships.
