Over 2500 attendees visited Nordic Game this May, either at the venue in Malmö, or online via the Nordic Game Discord. 30k unique viewers watched the live streamed talks and sessions from the main theater at the Slagthuset via streams and the Nordic Game Discord server. 157 speakers from across the globe discussed industry trends, shared thought-provoking insights and provided helpful advice.
Topics such as Virtual Reality, AI, sustainable studio management, adapting to changes as well as cultural representation in games and even romance design in games were debated during the show by industry experts and game studio leads.
To underline Nordic Game’s continuing goal to support new developers and growing game studios, the organisers expanded the Developer Showcase significantly for this anniversary edition. More than 100 developers, either as part of country delegations or as stand-alone exhibitors, demonstrated their titles on the show floor, which also featured a dedicated stage for pitches and presentations. As an extra service for the developers, the mentor group The Mighty Diamonds, provides expert advice and help to the Developer Showcase particpants.
As always, business and matchmaking was an integral part of Nordic Game. Via the MeetToMatch platform, a total of 3,522 confirmed meetings were held, up from 3,328 last year.
Nordic Game once again hosted the Nordic Game Awards, honoring the year’s best projects from Nordic game developers. The big winner of the evening was Alan Wake 2 by Remedy Entertainment with three prizes for Nordic Game of the year, Best Art and Best Audio. Nordic Game of the Year – Small Screen went to Rytmos by Floppy Club. Best Game Design is awarded to COCOON from Geometric Interactive. Best Technology went to THE FINALS by Embark Studios. Best Fun for Everyone was awarded to Ikonei Island by Snowcastle Games. And the Best Debut award honored Bramble: The Mountain King from Maximum Entertainment.
A very BIG thank you to all speakers, sponsors, partners and participants for making NG24 Spring the best Nordic Game ever.
Next year’s Nordic Game conference will return to Slagthuset in Malmö and online from 20-23 May, 2025.
