Nordic Game Flashback: Jesper Kyd
ARC Raiders. Life Below. Expedition 33. This week, stay on the Nordic Game YouTube channel for the session that opened the NG26 main theatre.
The recordings are still working talks, not souvenirs. Watch what you missed. Send this one to a composer, an audio director, or anyone who still treats music as “we’ll add it at the end.” If you only have time for one video this week, make it this one.

Watch: The Most Iconic Composer in Gaming? | Jesper Kyd
Jesper Kyd – Hitman, Assassin’s Creed, and a career that helped define how games sound, sits down for the opening conversation of NG26. Mat Ombler (Laced Music) holds the thread. The program title was In Conversation With Jesper Kyd. Fifty-one minutes with a Danish composer talking about work.
This is why it is worth the hour.
It is the story of a career. You hear how a score becomes part of the game’s identity, not wallpaper under the HUD. If you ship worlds, this should an intergral part.
It opened the show for a reason. NG26 put audio on the main stage first. Jesper was the audio-track headline. The room that later heard Embark, Megapop and Jennifer Svedberg-Yen started here.
It is useful if you hire audio, or if you are audio. How music carries story. How the job has changed. How interactive scores have to live with players who will ignore the cutscene and still remember the theme. That conversation does not age out in a patch.
It is a Nordic story with a global catalogue. A Danish composer, a Malmö theatre, games that travelled everywhere. That is the conversation Nordic Game exists to host.
It belongs with the other Flashbacks. Embark showed how a live game iterates on data. Megapop showed a small team building from a living system. Jennifer showed how a story holds. Jesper shows how sound makes the world stay in your head after you put the controller down.
Then keep going. On the same channel: ARC Raiders, Life Below, Expedition 3×3, Housemarque on SAROS, Planet of Lana, and the rest of NG26’s 179 speakers.
