New NG25 Spring sessions & speakers revealed!
The countdown clock for NG25 Spring is ticking louder now, and new partners, sponsors, and participants are joining every day to make this May’s show one to remember. This goes for the speaker roster as well, and this week we focus on two newly added, and very interesting, profiles and their upcoming talks.
Talk title: Ctrl+Alt+Disinfo: Lessons from a Game Jam to Tackle Disinformation
Maria Burns Ortiz is executive director of the Global Game Jam (GGJ), the world’s largest game creation event. Previous to GGJ, she was the cofounder and CEO of 7 Generation Games, developing educational and social impact games and the tools to create them.
This is how Maria describes her talk dubbed Ctrl+Alt+Disinfo: Lessons from a Game Jam to Tackle Disinformation: “Now more than ever, disinformation poses a legitimate threat to global societies. Games present an innovative approach to addressing it. This talk examines the games developed, challenges encountered and key takeaways in running game jam to create games to combat disinformation in the current political climate.“
Fawsi Mesmar, Creative Director, Ubisoft
Talk title: Demystifying Creativity
Fawzi Mesmar is an award winning Creative Director and Game Designer with 20+ years in the industry. He’s worked with Ubisoft, EA, and Activision on titles like Battlefield, Star Wars, and Mario Rabbids. Author of the first Arabic game design book, and in 2024 he received the Ambassador Award.
In his session Demystifying Creativity, Fawzi asks questions like “What drives us to think outside the box?“, “Where does a fresh idea originate?“, and “How can one truly gauge originality?” His talk then explores the creative process through psychology, neuroscience, and personal insights, revealing the mechanisms behind inspiration and originality.
Two more great reasons to join NG25 Spring! Hurry up and secure your pass right here. More speakers will be announced on a regular basis, so stay tuned 😊
