Danish game developer Reto-Moto has invested years in their World War II MMO first-person shooter, Heroes & Generals – and that dedication has been rewarded with a massive following, with over 8.5 million registered players from 194 countries, according to the studio.
Copenhagen-based Reto-Moto was established in 2008 by the original creators of the successful Hitman series.
“Creating a global success like Heroes & Generals while being a small independent Danish game studio like Reto-Moto requires a solid team of dedicated people,” says Reto-Moto CEO Martin Pollas. “At Reto-Moto we are all willing to go that extra mile for our colleagues and the company to achieve our ambitions and redefine the genre – like we did with Hitman. We take pride in being pioneering – trying out new things is in our DNA. Heroes & Generals is a global, constantly evolving title, and we will continue investing in the game and the community to further add value for our players and strengthen our position as the ultimate World War II gaming experience.”
Heroes & Generals has a stand-alone release for PCs (available via Steam) and a popular browser-based version.

Danish developer Reto-Moto was founded in 1997 and quickly transformed into IO Interactive, which went on to release Hitman and Freedom Fighters. After the sale of IO Interactive to Eidos in 2004, the original Reto-Moto studio was reformed in central Copenhagen. Their inaugural game Heroes & Generals has been released for PC on Steam.
