This month’s NG19 Free Pass Challenge deadline is 29 March. Submit your suggestions now!
Each month we select the best answer for our NG19 Free Pass Challenge. Winners receive a complimentary pass to this year’s Nordic Game conference, 22-24 May at Slagthuset in Malmö, Sweden – and then a new monthly challenge begins.
February’s challenge was: AI bots are now better than the real players. How will AI be integrated further into games and what will be the future uses of AI for both developers and players?
We received lots of great answers (thank you!), but in the end the best reply came from Riley Andersen, Taphouse Studio in Copenhagen, Denmark:
“As you say AI bots are better than real players, but in the future I see them becoming even better at predicting players’ behaviors and integrating their patterns into the AI system. This creates some interesting situations where players have to consider their own player behavior versus AI. Like, how can I cheat the AI and then use the AI’s learned behavior to my advantage? This can create really interesting situations and gameplay within strategy and simulation games.
I love when I feel like I outsmarted the system and with more tailored AI I could imagine some really next level strategy games where you are fighting against your own play style. Like we currently have breeding guides there could come player behavior guides, how to best cheat the AI and such.”
Also getting a free NG19 pass is Robin Hjelte from Forgotten Key in Karlshamn, Sweden who came with March’s best challenge suggestion. A big congrats to this month’s winners – your confirmation emails are on their way and see you at NG19 in May!
March’s NG19 Free Pass Challenge is:
“New markets and regions around the world open up for both players and for game developers with rapid growth. What are the most interesting new regions and emergent markets in the world right now, and how we can help them prosper at the same time as we find more players to cater to?”
Send your answer here before this month’s deadline: midnight Friday, 29 March!
PS: Send in suggestions for next month’s challenge as well – the best proposal will also win a free pass to NG19!
