Norway’s Funcom has announced that the studio’s beloved and critically acclaimed adventure game The Longest Journey is now available in a remastered edition on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad.
The Longest Journey: Remastered for iOS features new controls customised for mobile devices, a dynamic help system and a new intro and “outro” narrated by series creator Ragnar Tørnquist.
Tørnquist himself is excited to see Funcom bringing The Longest Journey to mobile devices. “There is no doubt The Longest Journey lends itself perfectly to mobile and tablet devices,” says Tørnquist, “it plays really well.”
First released on Windows PC in 1999, The Longest Journey was met with rave reviews and is still considered one of the greatest adventure games ever made. At the time GameSpot proclaimed it to be “one of the best adventure games in years”, bestowing upon it a “Game of the Year” award. IGN handed it an “Editor’s Choice” award saying, “…the game ranks up there as one of my favourite entertainment titles of all time, not just out of video games, but of all media.”

This year Tørnquist and his team at Red Thread Games have also launched, under license from Funcom, Dreamfall Chapters, an episode-based third entry in the beloved series.
“(The Longest Journey: Remastered for iOS) will open up The Longest Journey universe to a whole new audience, but it’s also a great way for veterans to experience the adventure again,” says Tørnquist. “It’s a great springboard into Dreamfall and Dreamfall Chapters!”
