Norwegian independent app/game development company Maurice has announced the Android release of Roto Birds, a self-described mix of Candy Crush Saga and classic Tetris gameplay.
The goal of the game is to help a captured chicken escape an angry chef, by aligning three or more similar vegetables in a row by rotating the playing board in 90-degree increments.
Roto Birds launched via Google Play store on 9 February, and an iOS version is expected to be available on the Apple App Store soon.
“The idea for this specific game originated somewhere around early 2014 when Candy Crush started to be popular,” said Maurice founder Jan Frode Maurice. “The thought hit us that a combination of Candy Crush and the classic game Tetris would be perfect! We started to code, and here is the result.”
