Hyper Games from Norway and their game Morkredd emerged as the people’s choice at Nordic Game 2017. The title was among the eight nominated games competing for the annual Sensation Award this year; all NG17 attendees were able try the games and vote for their favourites.
Nominees for the 2017 Sensation Award were chosen through a submission process conducted by Copenhagen Game Collective, with the jury selecting eight finalists from all over the Nordic region. Sensation Award voting at NG17 was tight, but when the final tallies were counted on Friday, 19 May, Morkredd was the game that stole the most hearts at the show.
In Morkredd, players ferry a large orb of glowing light through a pitch-black world, but stepping into the darkness (including the shadows of any other player) instantly results in “game over”. Intense but tremendously satisfying!

The Sensation Award winner was announced in the Unreal Theatre during the final “wrap-up” session of NG17, with all of the nominees appearing on stage to receive the audience’s enthusiastic support. Hyper Games accepted their award while several hundred of their peers cheered and clapped for their game, which is sure to receive even further accolades in the future.
A big congratulations to Hyper Games for their outstanding Morkredd, and a warm thank you to Copenhagen Game Collective, all the eight nominated developers and all of the voting NG17 attendees – not least for proving yet again that Nordic Game is the place to be for the rising stars of the Nordic games industry.
