Nordic Game presented the ninth annual Nordic Game Awards on 21 May during the 2015 conference in Malmö, Sweden. The Nordic Game Awards were hosted by Cara Ellison, who presented prizes in six categories and entertained the more than 1000 conference visitors in the Unreal Theatre, the main auditorium of the event venue Slagthuset.
The best Nordic game of 2015 is Swedish! Wolfenstein: The New Order won “Best Game of the Year” at the Nordic Game Awards 2015.
Best Nordic Game
The competition in the main category was as always very tough with a strong list of successful Nordic titles. Games such as Among the Sleep by Krillbite Studio, Press Play’s Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Shadow Puppeteer by Sarepta Studio of Norway were among the nominees, but in the end Wolfenstein: The New Order developed by Swedish MachineGames came out on top.
Best Nordic Children’s Game
The Nordic region has a proud history of producing quality games for children. This year, the Danish developers from Step in Books took the prize for their game Wuwu & Co. A special mention from the jury also went to Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, developed by Press Play from Denmark.
Best Nordic Handheld Game
Nordic game studios are behind an impressive string of great contemporary titles on the handheld formats. This year, Size DOES Matter developed by Norwegian DOS Studios took the award.
Best Artistic Achievement
”An artistic game is a game with visions and ambitions integrated into the gameplay, creating an experience that moves and engages players on several levels.” Thus read the motivation by the jury when they awarded “Best Artistic Achievement” to Norway’s Among the Sleep from Krillbite Studio.
Best Nordic Innovation
Danish Press Play was all over the place with several nominations and a special mention from the jury. The studio also took home a prize, as the winner of the “Best Nordic Innovation” award for their game Kalimba.
