The majority of the more than 100 speakers at the upcoming Nordic Game 2016 conference, 18-20 May in Malmö, Sweden, are now confirmed and ready to take the stage at event venue Slagthuset. Kojima, Sweeney, The Division, Blizzard, VR, engines, indiepocalypse and meaningfulness are among the buzzwords this year.
From the morning of 18 May when Unreal engine creator Tim Sweeney presents his opening keynote, NG16 participants can expect three days packed with a refined blend of industry legends, VR panels, engine battles, indie revelations, expert sessions, business wonders and mobile revelations.
“We are extremely proud of the program this year,” says Nordic Game program director Jacob Riis. “It’s always a real challenge to find the right balance between inspiration and knowledge, the present and the future, and at the same time cater to as many aspects of game development as possible. But it feels like we’re getting closer than ever this year.”
The speaker program consists of more than 90 sessions over the three days, and includes talks by Blizzard senior cinematic artist David Luong, The Witcher 3 lead technical designer Matthew Steinke and writer Rhianna Pratchett, as well as a much anticipated Q&A session with design legend Hideo Kojima, moderated by Thomas Puha from Remedy Entertainment, the Finnish studio behind the recently released cinematic action-adventure game Quantum Break.
A string of Nordic heroes will also share their insights with NG16 attendees, among them producer Petter Sydow from Swedish Massive Entertainment, developer of The Division, Reko Ukko, design VP at Finnish mobile studio Seriously and Avalanche Studios founder Christofer Sundberg, one of many exciting speakers in the new version of Nordic Game Fast Track.
Microsoft and Amazon will also host special sessions, and the popular Investing in Games summit returns on 18 May. This year’s expert presentations, with speakers from industry innovators like DICE, Playdead and Crytek, are set to satisfy the really hardcore among the audience as well.
“Response to this year’s speaker announcements has been fantastic, with NG16 registration at an all-time high,” adds Jacob Riis. “But we still have several surprises to reveal over the coming weeks, so stay tuned!”
Expect this and much, much more at NG16. So don’t delay – get your pass today!
