The submission deadline for the NGDC Season IV qualifier at Melbourne International Games Week in Australia is 22 September – apply now!
The Nordic Game Discovery Contest debuts at the upcoming Melbourne International Games Week on 9 October (16:00 AEDST) for the thirteenth qualifier of Season IV.
Connecting gamers, technology and culture, Australia’s Melbourne International Games Week is Asia Pacific’s largest digital games celebration featuring online conferences, events and activities for the games industry, games enthusiasts, general public and educators.
Check out highlights from last year’s event:
“Each year, Melbourne International Games Week brings the games world to Melbourne and going virtual this year has provided the unique opportunity for leading international events to join the program,” says Victoria’s Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley. “This is the first time Australia has been part of the Nordic Game Discovery Contest – giving our local games industry access to this global pitching event. We hope it this is the start of a long term collaboration between Melbourne International Games Week and Nordic Game that will bring new opportunities for our local industry.”
“This is a great step for the Discovery Contest”, adds NGDC host and Nordic Game CCO Jacob Riis. “Bringing the online version of NGDC to Australia and Melbourne Games Week means that we’re taking yet a step to make the contest a true, global event. I’m very excited, not least to see which games will make it as contestants, and how they perform under the pressure (and fun) on stage that’s all a part of the NGDC experience.”
The qualifier in Melbourne will be the thirteenth stop on the NGD Season IV tour. The selected game will win a seat in the online NGDC Grand Finals at NG20+ in Malmö, Sweden, as well as prizes from Xsolla, Versus Evil, Microsoft, PR specialists Plan of Attack and influencer marketing experts Matchmade.
Are you developing or have you already developed a game that deserves more attention than it’s received so far? And are you attending Melbourne International Games Week? If so, submit your game and prepare to go on stage for the thirteenth qualifying round of NGDC Season IV – and maybe all the way to the online finals at NG20+ in November.
