Multiplying multiplayer with SpatialOS and Unreal

Multiplying multiplayer with SpatialOS and Unreal

Improbable joins our partner count-down to NG19:

Are you thinking about building a multiplayer game? Improbable will be at NG19, showing developers how to use the SpatialOS GDK for Unreal Engine to easily create, iterate and launch cutting-edge multiplayer games on any platform.

At NG19 Expo booth A23, you can get a tech demo, talk to our engineers about how SpatialOS helps you release quicker and experiment more easily, pick up gifts, or enter a competition to win a Nintendo Switch.

Improbable’s SpatialOS is a cloud-based platform that combines many servers and game engine instances to power and host a single game world. Our SpatialOS Game Development Kits (GDKs) work with it, enabling you to go beyond the traditional limits of the client-server model and easily create cutting-edge multiplayer games with any platform, any engine and any idea. Our multiserver tech allows you to have a greater number of actors, gameplay systems and players in a single seamless world, served by global infrastructure near to your players.

We love how Unreal makes multiplayer easy for developers and wanted to ensure we didn’t change that – so SpatialOS works natively with the Unreal Engine. If you’re using Unreal GDK, you can continue using the engine’s native networking API with UProperties and UFunctions and make Blueprints as normal.

Getting started is simple. If you’re porting, you can easily take your current dedicated-server Unreal game and get it working with SpatialOS. If you’re starting from scratch, our documentation walks you through how to get set-up.

Although our team at Nordic Game 2019 are experts on our Unreal GDK, SpatialOS also works with other game engines and “bring your own engine” integration. Feel free to ask our team members for more information at NG19 or get more information at https://improbable.io/spatialOS.

Once your game is built on SpatialOS, you can start small and grow your game with your players. You don’t have to worry about the technical limits; we will scale with your game, allowing any kind of multiplayer game to start at any scale and take advantage of the faster, more effective and more flexible development enabled by SpatialOS.

To find out more, talk to us at booth A23 or look out for our staff on the show floor.
