Can you build a winning team out of enthusiastic juniors with little experience, but ambition to conquer the world? Should you keep a team intact from one project to another? How do you spot a dysfunctional team?
Studio Leadership Juggling Act – Post Record Revenues While Growing Your Team
Reginaldo Valadares, Head of Studio, Rovio (Stockholm)
Reginaldo Valadares presents a studio retrospective, exploring how they grew their flagship game’s revenue by orders of magnitude through successful live operations, even as the studio underwent significant team growth – a story of consistent evolution and building adaptable, highly-driven teams.
Angry Birds Dream Blast – Deep Reinforcement Learning for Game Design
Asko Relas, Senior Data Engineer, Rovio and Riku Heino, Lead Game Designer, Rovio
Angry Birds Dream Blast is a dreamy, bubble-popping, free-to-play puzzle game set in the Angry Birds universe. Creating new levels is a key element in making a great puzzle game, but subsequent testing, evaluation and tweaks are very time-consuming for the developers. In this talk, Asko Relas and Riku Heino explain how they have employed deep reinforcement learning to help designers efficiently predict level difficulty, freeing up precious development time to focus on creating fantastic experiences for players.
Watch the Inside Rovio video for a sneak peek into Riku Heino and Asko Relas’ talk on using machine learning in level balancing and catch the full presentation on 22 May.
