London based start-up Ixty will be speaking at Nordic Game about a highly relevant topic for mobile game developers: how to generate more in-app purchasing revenue from your existing player base.
“We are very excited to be speaking at Nordic Game and to have the chance to meet game developers in the Nordic region, since it is the area that is leading the world in mobile games,” says Steve Lindsay of Ixty.
We were alerted to a big problem in mobile gaming. Conversion rates, turning “players” into “payers”, are very low and to make things worse user acquisition costs are rising fast and game developers asked us if we could find an easy way to increase their in-app purchase revenue.
The developer community gave us very valuable input on what their ideal solution would look like and we have been working closely with developers to understand what it is that they want and how to make this work seamlessly in their games. What we learned from developers is that most of them do not have the time or resources to employ a full-time analyst and that they prefer an easy-to-use solution in which IAP optimisation is outsourced to our fully automated platform.
Another thing that we learned from the developer community is that user acquisition costs are rising fast and that it is now ten times cheaper to retain a player than to acquire a player. Rather than focussing on the ‘whales’, why not also extract some extra revenue out of the non-paying players that have already been acquired? This is one of the things that we developed for game developers: get more players to become payers and optimise your IAP revenue by selecting different IAP prices around the world that players can afford and are willing to pay.
If you have countless players playing your game in a given country but not paying for IAPs, it’s likely that your pricing in those countries is too high. The Ixty platform increases IAP revenue by selecting prices that players around the world are willing to pay and can afford and then continuously runs automated A/B tests in order to find the revenue maximising ‘optimum’ price. Optimum prices change continuously as the player base changes and matures and as games are updated with new features, so updating and A/B-testing IAP prices is a dynamic and continuous process.
The Ixty platform is free to use and developers only pay if the Ixty platform has made developers more money (which is verified by keeping a small control group on the old prices). The Ixty SDK can be easily integrated with a small Unity or Android Java plug-in.
Ixty is sponsoring the Nordic Game Indie Showcase and Nordic Indie Sensation Awards as we want to make developers aware that they can generate far more revenue by optimising IAP prices. In addition, we have organised a prize draw open to all mobile game developers. The prize is a pre-install deal to have one of their games pre-installed on all Android devices from “indie” tablet and mobile phone manufacturer Future Mobile Technology.
