Danish Lohika has announced that Machineers, the first release in the studio’s episodic puzzle adventure series, has launched for iOS and Android.
Machineers was created to enable more young people to experience the empowerment of thinking and acting like a programmer, without limiting prerequisites such as coding knowledge, according to Lohika CEO Henrike Lode.
Everything in Machineers is constructed and powered by gears, belts and electricity. Players learn the ropes by becoming a “Machineer”, a specialist entrusted to fix machines in the game’s steampunk world of “Tivoli Town”.
Lohika has five episodes or “cities” planned for Machineers, and each episode will feature a specific vehicle. Episode one is all about cars. Later releases will feature hot air balloons, rocket ships and a teleporter.
Machineers also won “Best Game for a Purpose” at the Conference on Human Factors in Computing Science 2013 and “Best Student Game” at the Serious Games Showcase and Challenge 2012.
