Chinese “crackers” have hit a brick wall trying to copy Just Cause 3, the latest game from Swedish developer Avalanche Studios, according to the website Torrentfreak.com.
The source of the pirates’ troubles is the latest iteration of “Denuvo”, an anti-tampering technology developed by Austrian Denuvo Software Solutions and software engineers previously responsible for Sony DADCs infamous SecuROM system.
More than a month after Just Cause 3‘s release, the members of the Chinese cracking forum 3DM have still not been able to crack the game. Torrentfreak.com notes that although Denuvo’s DRM solution will not end of game piracy permanently, waiting a month or more to download an illegal copy of a popular title will cause hardcore gamers to lose interest and move onto the next “hyped” game.
“According to current trends in the development of encryption technology,” says 3DM forum founder “Bird Sister”, “in two years time I’m afraid there will be no free games to play in the world.”
