Nordic Game partner Flanders Investment and Trade shares a special message in the run-up to NG21 May:
From talent in software development, AR/VR and game design, incubation options and key enterprises to some of the best ICT infrastructure in the world – Flanders has exactly what creative media companies need to succeed.
In Belgium there are 114 game companies and several promising startups about to release their first game or product. The region of Flanders is home to most of them, including one of the most successful developers worldwide, Larian Studios and some promising companies like Cyborn (their game HubrisVR pictured above). The Flemish game sector wants to boast more large studios and support the growth of more midsized studios to be able to offer a vibrant ecosystem for the highly skilled alumni graduating from local game schools. The goal is to also attract more foreign game companies to the Flemish region.
Videogame talent and innovation
With the aim of turning talent into successful developers and entrepreneurs, many university colleges in Flanders provide degrees relevant to creative media, programming, digital communication, game development and design.
The HOWEST Digital Arts and Entertainment curriculum provides the biggest videogame education program in the Benelux. The Rookies even elected the bachelor program as the world’s #1 game design and development curriculum for 2 years in a row.
Imec, Flanders’ strategic research centre for nano- and digital technology, is also engaged in gaining new insights into game design and AR/VR.
To find out more about the ecosystem in place in Flanders join us for a webinar organized by Flanders Investment & Trade, Flemish Games Association, VAF and HOWEST during Nordic Game on Friday, 28 May from 15:45-16:30 (see the NG21 May online schedule next week for details).
