Epic will conduct the entire eight-hour masterclass twice, on two separate days: Thursday, 29 November and Friday, 30 November. Both days will be hosted by Epic Games senior designer Jim Brown.
With more than two decades of experience in the video game industry as a designer, writer and manager, Jim has directed Epic’s development teams as design lead on dozens of titles across a wide range of genres and platforms. As a founding member of Epic’s UX department, he’s constantly striving to improve the player’s experience and reach a wider audience.
The Epic Games masterclass at East Sweden Game in Linköping will:
• Establish what a game is and describe its defining characteristics
• Explore each of these individual characteristics with hands-on activities
• Demonstrate how each characteristic can impact the player’s overall experience
• Provide participants with examples of simple changes that can improve the quality and reach of every design
While this masterclass is design-focused (visual design, systems design, user experience design, etc.), it will include aspects that are perfect for anyone involved in the game design process.
People from other industries are also encouraged to participate, but may need to make the leap from game design to general design on their own.
