Nominees for the thirteenth International Mobile Gaming Awards Global (IMGA Global), including 159 mobile games from around the world nominated for the Grand Prix award, have been revealed. The Grand Prix winners, as well as recipients of twelve additional prizes, will be announced at the annual IMGA Global awards ceremony in San Francisco on 28 February.
Online voting has also opened for the IMGA People’s Choice Award. Fans of nominated games can vote here for their favorites in the competition.
This year, winners of the new regional IMGA editions in Southeast Asia, the Middle East/North Africa and China were guaranteed spots as nominees for the IMGA Global competition, and a new prize, Best Game Artist Award, will be awarded to the best artist/best art team who worked on an exceptionally beautiful game.
“2016 was a year of growth for the IMGA,” said IMGA CEO and founder Maarten Noyons. “We launched competitions in Southeast Asia, the Middle East/North Africa and China. The line-up of this year’s IMGA Global campaign is unique, because it is the result of a worldwide search for quality, innovation and originality. The 159 nominees, including 29 unpublished games and 13 VR games, have been selected from nearly 3000 submissions, and unites our local competition winners with those selected from our global call for entries. I personally recommend every single game in this line-up.”
