Broadcast live as the final session of the online LevelUp conference in Rome, the Nordic Game Discovery Contest qualifier in Italy delivered a new finalist to the upcoming NGDC Season V Grand Finals in November.
The competition at LevelUp was fierce – the studios behind the games Freud’s Bones and Children of Silentown did almost as well as Italian one-man developer Elvis Morelli through the four rounds of the competition, making it very hard for the judges to make their final decision.
But in the end, it was Morelli’s innovative mobile game Game Over Carrara that made the strongest impression on the judges, consisting of representatives from Tencent Games, WhisperGames and Global Game Jam.
Game Over Carrara is a free-to-play, point-and-click adventure with action elements, presented in an episodic fashion similar to modern TV series. The graphic style is built from faithful recreations of the real-world locations in the Italian city Carrara, but transformed into apocalyptic scenarios.
Thanks again to the organisers of the LevelUp conference in Rome and warm congrats to Elvis Morelli – it will be exciting to see how Game Over Carrara fares against the other finalists at the NGDC Grand Finals this November – a highlight of the NG21 Autumn online conference this 2-5 November.
NGDC Season V is sponsored by Xsolla, Microsoft, Tencent Games, WhisperGames and Nordic Game Ventures, in partnership with Games Branding, DDM and 80 Level.
