Finnish start-up Jumbon Ltd has released the studio’s debut mobile title Freak Circus Racing for iOS devices. The Android version of the game launched earlier this year.
A physics-based 2D stunt racing game with colourful “Saturday morning” cartoon-style graphics, Freak Circus Racing features a visual car tuning process, 40 handmade levels, boss battles against freaky characters and a “competition mode” for Facebook friends.
Freak Circus Racing leans heavily on odd and somewhat crude humour, with characters like “Jim Kung-On, the Clown Dictator of Happy Freedom Land” and “South American sugar lord Pablo Energybar”, inspired by notorious figures from real-life.
The inspiration for the game’s freaky and perhaps somewhat controversial characters came after the news of North Korea’s Sony hacking incident. “We think Kim Jong-Un is a funny looking fella,” says Jumbon CEO Samu Keränen.
