
With less than 100 days to go until Nordic Game 2018, 23-25 May, it’s time for the first speaker announcements for Europe’s most significant industry event.
The main goal of the NG18 program is to provide the audience with high quality talks, panels and workshops, addressing some of the most current, important and relevant topics within our industry.
More than 120 industry profiles will be in place and ready to share their insights – and here are five highlights from the first batch of NG18 speakers:
Johnny Monserrat, Monserrat (US)
It’s a pleasure to announce MMO legend and Turbine founder Johnny Monserrat as a NG18 keynote speaker. Get ready to be educated and entertained with his talk “How to Make $1 Billion in AR Gaming”. Learn practical lessons, AR design that retains players for years and business models for your own $1 billion game. Not to be missed!
John Watson/Zeb West, Stoic (US)
The technical director joins the producer of Stoic’s brilliant games series Banner Saga for a joint talk. Entitled “Banner Saga Creative Process”, expect this to be a post-mortem of one of recent year’s best mobile games series, including details about the team’s creative process, tools, automation, tips and tricks, as well as the quirks of their custom engine.
Anette Staloy, Dirtybit (NO)
Anette is working with business relations/partnerships, PR, App Store optimisation, live-ops, management and team events at Dirtybit. Join her session “Remember Coffee with your Squats! Building a Company Culture” if you’re looking for an expert’s view on how to build and nurture a strong company culture.
Jens Andersson, Villa Gorilla (SE)
Game-designer and programmer, Jens was one of the original members of Starbreeze. After 10 years there and a stint at LucasArts in San Francisco, Jens is now back in Sweden, where he will giving a hardcore talk for tech lovers, showing you how you can build tools yourself to differentiate your game. With examples from his latest game, Yoku’s Island Express, as well as lessons learned from Chronicles of Riddick/Starbreeze and Colors!/Collecting Smiles.
Anita Sarkeesian/Carolyn Petit (US)
Join award-winning media critic Anita Sarkeesian and managing editor Carolyn Petit of Feminist Frequency for this interactive workshop, where you’ll be given tools to help you create compelling characters for any sort of game. They will discuss popular, well-known games as well as give attendees a chance to have their own work critiqued and evaluated.
