Finland’s dynamic indie games scene has given birth to a new studio, Koukoi Games. Founded by ten young entrepreneurs and game developers from companies such as Rovio and Nokia, the team seeks to create a sustainable “dream” studio and develop memorable games.
Dubbed “Koukoi” from the ancient Finnish myth of the Kalevala, Koukoi Games is currently developing two different titles for mobile platforms. Their debut game will be launched this summer, with a second project already in development.
“There are many mobile games for tablets and smartphones available to players (today, so) it’s hard to make a difference. Players are (constantly) searching for better games with broader experiences as they (decide) which games to try out,” said Koukoi Games producer Antti Kananenin. “For game companies to meet the rising (demands) of players, (mobile game) production values must be much higher. (Studios) need to put more effort into their games, to match their (titles) with (players’) expectations and needs.”
