Finnish Skånerbotten has announced that their story-driven space game Constellation Distantia will launch via Steam on 28 February.
In the spirit of sci-fi gaming classics like Star Control 2 and FTL, players experience free-flying and space combat, mine asteroids and detonate entire planets for resources, study technologies and craft equipment as well as encounter events, people and places from friendly to hostile while following a path of missions in a grim atmospheric mystery.
Constellation Distantia features a gripping story, 50 handcrafted missions with more than 100 illustrated cut-scenes, 40 unique star systems with celestial objects of all sorts from rocky asteroids and icy moons to life containing planets with cities, with core mechanics that include “arma” management, combat, trading, crafting, free flying, mining and resource management, as well as planetary-scale thermonuclear detonations and many different types of combat: mission-related combat, karma-related combat, hostile “Lunarians” as well as “plain robbery” and “ill will”, AI vs. AI combat and boss-fights.
Designed with traditional PC play in mind, a complete VR port is also available in SteamVR for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
