Researchers from the ScienceAtHome group at Denmark’s Aarhus University have launched a smartphone version of their popular puzzler Quanum Moves, a title that leverages the power of online gaming and gamers to help solve the underlying physics issues of large-scale quantum computing.
Quanum Moves is only one of a collection of “citizen science” games from the ScienceAtHome group. Citizen science challenges the notion that science is an exclusive club by inviting people from all backgrounds to contribute to scientific problem-solving on a voluntary basis.
Quanum Moves for PCs has already been played over 500,000 times worldwide, leading to ingenious solutions to the “atomic transport” problem and bringing the construction of a large-scale quantum computer one step closer to reality.
