Independent Swedish developer Fatshark has announced that BAFTA award-winning composer Jesper Kyd has returned to create the soundtrack and music for the studio’s upcoming Warhammer: End Times Vermintide 2 game, scheduled for release on PC and consoles in early 2018.
Both Warhammer: End Times Vermintide series titles are co-operative action first person shooters and melee combat adventures set in the “End Times” of the iconic Warhammer fantasy universe from UK-based Games Workshop. Vermintide 2 introduces the dark, bloody and twisted Norse tribe “Chaos” as an enemy faction.
Kyd is renowned for creating unique scores with a diverse array of live instrumentation and manipulated sounds. His immersive soundtracks feature a mix of styles ranging from the iconic orchestral/electronic hybrid scores for the Hitman series (awarded a BAFTA for “Original Music”) and the anthemic choral score for Freedom Fighters, to his four evocative scores for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series and the post-apocalyptic/sci-fi themes of the Borderlands series.
A sneak preview of Kyd’s score is presented in the reveal trailer for Vermintide 2:
