A highlight of the annual Nordic Game conference, this year’s edition of the Nordic Game Awards takes place in the Unreal Theatre, the main auditorium of Slagthuset, on Thursday, 18 May at 18:00.
Host of the show Niels Forsberg will hand out prizes in eight categories, with the nominated games to be announced this week – continuing today with “Game Design” and “Art”:
Best Game Design nominees
The nominees for “Best Game Design” include five of the past year’s most successful and critically acclaimed Nordic games. Competing with the four AAA heavy hitters on the list is Owlboy, a slick homage to old-school 2D adventures that took Norwegian developer D-Pad Studio eight years to complete.
Best Art nominees
Games in this category are nominated for their high level of artistic achievement. Headliners this year are Battlefield 1 and INSIDE, but look out for the “dark horses” – not least of all the beautiful, “yarn-made” art of Unravel.
Check back tomorrow for the final 2017 Nordic Game Awards nominees announcement!
The Nordic Game Institute consists of the following game producer associations in the region: Dataspelsbranschen (SE), Icelandic Gaming Industry (IS), Neogames (FI), Spillprodusentforeningen (NO) and Producentforeningen (DK).
The organisers appoint the NGA jury, this year with the following members: Bjarki Thor Jónsson (Iceland), Juho Kuorikoski (Finland), Rune Fjell Olsen (Norway), Niklas Sintorn (Sweden) and Astrid Mie Refstrup (Denmark).
