World of Fashion, the debut title from Finnish mobile game studio Appstar, has shot to the top of the Finnish App Store charts less than two weeks after the game’s soft launch in Finland and New Zealand.
Combining mobile gaming and “real life” in new and innovative ways with a realistic art style, rich inventory and collectible cards, World of Fashion differs from other games of the same genre with extremely large and trendy content. Players shop and dress their way to the most fashionable venues, and meet celebrities as well as familiar YouTubers and fashion bloggers to add to their list of clientele.

During the soft launch, players have been able to style Cosmopolitan fashion blogger Natalie Vilen and four rising YouTube stars: Iinaps, Sleeping Beauty, Ia J. and Mandiolivia. Players can also style Vilma Alina, who just recorded her first album.
“When designing the game, our hypothesis was that for our target audience local YouTube stars and fashion bloggers are much more important than global celebrities like Rihanna or Taylor Swift,” says Appstar CEO Arto Aaltonen. “With this idea in mind, the game was designed to incorporate both global celebrities and also local real-life stars.”
“There is very vibrant and diverse blogger community in Finland with a lot of very popular young YouTube stars,” continues Aaltonen. “All the YouTubers were pretty excited about being in a mobile game and working with the ex-Stardoll founders. Many of them had played Stardoll when younger and had fond memories of their time spend in the game.”
