Finnish Zemeho has developed a plug-in for game developers that provides players with integrated access to music streaming in their games.
Called Valinta, the plug-in is licensed directly to game studios and publishers. In January, Zemeho test-launched Valinta with the Fingersoft game Fail Hard, which to-date has been downloaded 23 million times. Valinta will roll-out on all Fingersoft’s games and titles by other developers over the next couple of months, according to Zemeho.
Apollo Music, the plug-in’s Danish distributor, thinks the service provides players with a whole new dimension to their gaming experience. ”Valinta makes it a lot easier for players to find the songs and genres they prefer. It takes the power from the composers and gives it to the players,” says Apollo Music head of communications Jonas Bjørn Olsen. ”At the same time, it gives talented underground musicians the possibility to get noticed – something the independent music industry desperately needs.”
