Pixel Worlds, a massively multiplayer, social sandbox game from Finnish mobile game developer Kukouri, has arrived for PC on Steam Greenlight. Released on the App Store and Google Play in January 2017, the game already has over one million downloads for mobile devices.
In Pixel Worlds, players create their own worlds with building blocks and other items ranging from furniture to clothing. Players also build platform levels for others to play, marketplaces for trading in-game items and info-worlds to help new players.

The game also overlaps onto social media in unique ways. “We view the game itself as 50 per cent of the whole experience – the other 50 per cent is the different social aspects, both in-game and via social media,” says Kukouri CEO Kim Soares. “The Pixel Worlds community is extremely active, especially on Instagram and YouTube, where players share their own creations.”
Kukouri creates weekly content on the game’s own official YouTube and Twitch channels, and works with influencers in a range of media. “People are not just playing the game. They are chatting with their friends, making new friends from all over the world and hanging out with each other,” adds Soares. Pixel Worlds is social in the truest sense of the word.”
