A little over a year ago, Icelandic game developer Lumenox Games made their debut with the hand-drawn 2D action platformer Aaru’s Awakening. Now the small team is getting ready to launch their second title, YamaYama! on Steam Early Access.
Filled with all sorts of mini-games set in wild, surreal surroundings, YamaYama! is a whacky party game for 2-4 players. Check out the teaser trailer:
“We’re on Steam Greenlight right now and (YamaYama!) is fully ready to launch on Early Access as soon as we get (approval) from Valve,” Lumenox Games’ Jóhann Guðjónsson tells Nordic Game. “The reason we’re going to Early Access is because we want the community to decide with us what we should focus on, and come up with ideas for new game modes, items, etc. before our final release this fall.”
According to Guðjónsson, development of their previous release (Aaru’s Awakening) was very much a learning process, with play testers going over the working prototype weekly and providing extensive feedback. Guðjónsson hopes to get similar support for YamaYama! as an Early Access title on Steam.
Lumenox Games consists of seven game “fanatics” based in Reykjavík, Iceland. In 2012, the studio’s founders won an Icelandic video game development competition together and the team has continued making games since then – innovating, making mistakes and taking risks.
