After a successful year, the Finnish games industry celebrated at the Finnish Game Awards Gala in Helsinki on 27 April.
A total of ten awards were presented during the gala evening; highlights were Supercell’s double victory, a sentimental “Influencer Award” and a celebration to Finnish eccentricity with the “People’s Choice Award”.
This year’s winners at The Finnish Game Awards were:
Applied Game Award 2016: Augmented Climbing Wall/Valo Motion
Finnish Rookie of the Year 2016: Kopla Games
Sensation of the Year 2016: Finnish Museum of Games
Best Creative Achievement of the Year 2016: Alienation/Housemarque
Big Screen Game of the Year 2016: Quantum Break/Remedy Entertainment
Small Screen Game of the Year 2016: Clash Royale/Supercell
Finnish Game of the Year 2016: Clash Royale/Supercell
After a year-long break, the “Influencer Award” for life’s work in the Finnish games industry was given to Pelit magazine’s emerita editor-in-chief Tuija Linden. IGDA Finland also recognised colleague Minna Eloranta as “Volunteer of the Year”. Pelit magazine also gave their traditional “kyöpeli” (“capricious”) trophy to the “People’s Choice Game of the Year 2016”, My Summer Car from Amistech.
