Leading with “Diversity – Tolerance – Progress” and subtitled “An industry for everyone makes greater games”, Nordic Game and Diversi kicked-off a new long-term partnership, aiming to support different diversity issues within the Nordic games industry.
This year, the focus was on gender diversity. To encourage and inspire more Nordic female students to make their way into the games industry, fourteen female game development students from a variety of Nordic educational institutions were given the chance to attend the Nordic Game conference with the generous support of sponsor Intel Software, with free travel and accommodation in Malmö as well as access to all events at the Nordic Game 2015.
Under the guidance of Diversi project manager Albertina Sparrhult, the students were also treated to a special program that included inspirational talks by great speakers from around the world, exclusive meetings with role-models from the industry and personal introductions to Nordic game studio executives. The students also joined the foundation of a new network for women in the Nordic games industry and a whole lot of other networking fun, including mixers, parties and dinners, where friends and contacts were made, both Nordic and global.
The students were busy during the conference, sharing their experiences on various social media. Here are a few of the testimonials, made by some tired but very excited and happy students:
“Thank you for this amazing opportunity! I’ve had such an amazing time and I have been inspired by you amazing people and by all the talks, meet-ups and chats with people from this wonderful industry. I may have been passionate and ambitious before, but right now I almost feel unstoppable! I’ll work hard and use everything I’ve learned from this trip and hopefully I’ll inspire a bunch of nerdy but lovely girls, like you have inspired me. Thank you for everything and best of luck for your future projects!” – Bára Krosstieg
“Thank you so much Diversi for offering us this opportunity, it really means a lot to us and it has been a wonderful experience to be in this inspiring atmosphere and meet with equally inspiring people from the industry. I feel it has really given me a boost and helped me grow as a person. SO THANK YOU!” – Linsey Raymakers
“Thank you for this week and the chance to learn and be inspired in the business that drives us.” – Louise Kjeldsen
“Thank you Diversi, this was like one of the greatest moments in my game dev. experiences and I grew a very loving feeling for this conference and will definitely be going again!” – Liv Darling
