A Bastard’s Tale, a 2D single-player action-adventure from Swedish indie developer Jens Kolhammar (No Pest Productions), is coming to PlayStation 4 on 4 October (North America) and 5 October (Europe). Currently rated “Very Positive” on Steam, all upgrades to the PC version, including tweaks to gameplay and brand-new enemies, are included in the PlayStation 4 edition.
As Kolhammar described A Bastard’s Tale last year: “Have you ever played a game where you wished you could position your sword at the right angle to deflect an enemy’s sword strike? That was the starting point for A Bastard’s Tale. The focus is fun and challenging sword fighting with varied enemies, and the uniqueness comes from the three different blocking angles, as well as three different attack angles. The player has to constantly watch adversaries to know how to block and when to attack. Furthermore, the game has slower-paced attacks that cannot be cancelled out – which forces the player to be strategic.”

A Bastard’s Tale is still unforgiving difficult from the very first enemy. Players can parry and attack at three different angles – but so can many of the enemies. The game now features five challenging levels to beat with over 20 unique enemies to conquer, and includes replay modes in “New Game” and “New Game Plus” as well as high-scores in an “Endless Fighter” mode.
